It's funny, I always wanted to rewrite the game as "Monafia" and have, say, houses as bodegas (clearly, those can only stay afloat as front businesses) and hotels as casinos. But maybe I was really playing Monafia all along.

The weirdest thing about Monopoly is, it was a freely-traded "folk game" before Parker Brothers put a slew of patents on it and, in fact, established a Monopoly monopoly.
